What Drives Cost Above the Base Rate
Wall height is the biggest multiplier. Above 4 feet, most walls require geogrid reinforcement layers, heavier block, and sometimes engineered drawings, all of which increase cost significantly. Sloped sites, limited equipment access, poor drainage conditions, or walls near structures also push cost higher. The cost-per-square-foot figures in this calculator are based on straightforward residential conditions; complex sites will cost more.
